I don't know if I like the new Modest Mouse and I'm quite distraught over that.
I saw Ratatat at the Paradise on Thursday. Good show! My friend Harold asked if I ever thought they wrote their name as R@@@. I hope they do. I want a repeating thing in my name. Everybody's doing it. Ok, you shall call me Annanana. Just kidding.
The Books, April 15th @ Somerville Theatre
Obviously, they need to be stopped.

So last night I went to see Of Montreal at Avalon. Unfortunately we were forced to watch the performance by Grand Buffet before Of Montreal hit the stage. What a bunch of wankers. I've never seen Of Montreal live before (I know...) and wow, that was weird. Awesome, but weird. There were giant lobster claws and cross-dressing. And some guy in a white spandex bodysuit who did his own special seductive fruit performance with an apple and some bananas. I don't think the band really warmed up to the crowd until the very end of the show which was kind of disappointing. Kevin Barnes seemed to be off in his own world most of the time. They ended with a cover of the Fiery Furnaces Tropical-Iceland and it was awesome.
Tonight was poetry night on New Frontiers because, why not? A poem is like a song. But without music. You know.

Exclamation Points Run Amok
It's a new season here at WMBR! And a new show for you! We're all very excited. New Frontiers is an hour of all new music every Monday at midnight. It might be good, it might be lame. Sorry if it's lame. But most of it should be musical goodness to your aurally deprived ears. I'm putting my playlists here because I'm too lazy to figure out how to create html that works with the text editor on my mac.
The Playlist:
New Young Pony Club/New Young Pony Club EP/Ice Cream
Cyann & Ben/Sweet Beliefs LP/Words
Let's Go Sailing/The Chaos In Order LP/Sideways
The Makes Nice!/Candy Wrapper and Twelve Other Songs LP/Cop Killer
The Apples In Stereo/New Magnetic Wonder LP/7 Stars
Do Make Say Think/Constellation LP/The Universe!
Fujiya & Miyagi/Transparent Things LP/Collarbone
The New Century/The New Century EP/The Middle Years
LCD Soundsystem/Sound of Silver LP/North American Scum/
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin/Broom LP/House Fire
My Teenage Stride/Ears Like Golden Bats LP/Reversal
New Thing Now/Divine Library Intervention LP/Extra Sensory Perception Is Good *
Mouthful of Bees/The End LP/Jessica
*Bonus points in life for cool, hand-stamped album art
Well, we made some new discoveries, heard some new stuff from old favorites, and learned the story behind the name of Fujiya & Miyagi. Sorry things got a bit hectic at the end of the show. The scared, little, lost children are starting thier first shows today so I had to teach them the ways of not playing from their laptop and violating FCC regulations. But they're so cute clutching their overplayed CDs and stammering into the microphone. Just kidding, they done good.
Oh man, I wish I was going to South by Southwest next week. Pretty much everyone ever is playing there. But for those of us in cold, cold Boston; do not despair, for there is hope!
3/11 OF MONTREAL Avalon
3/15 RATATAT Paradise
And now I leave with this awesome obnoxiousness: http://www.kiiiiiii.com/. From where else, but Japan.
